BIOGRAPHY

Irish-born Aifric Ní Chaoimh works in Luxembourg as a dance artist, teacher and choreographer. She is a graduate of London Contemporary Dance School, earning a first class BA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance (2013). She also attended SUNY Purchase College in New York as an exchange programme student during her studies.. She has worked with several contemporary choreographers throughout her studies in Britain and in Ireland, such as Itamar Serussi (IL), Igor & Moreno (UK), Alex Howard (UK), Imogen Knight (UK) and Michael Keegan Dolan /Fabulous Beast (IRE). In Luxembourg and The Greater Region, she has worked with Elisabeth Schilling (All d'Déieren aus dem Besch '21 &'22, Ita Infinita reprise '24), Jean-Guillaume Weis / Dance Theater Luxembourg, (Sehnsucht ’21, Bucketful of Dreams ’17), Hannah Ma - Han Sun Gathering /The People United (Nussknacker das Fest ’19 and Wanderer ’17). She has danced for many Lucoda projects, the Philharmonie, Simone Mousset, Compagnie Les Affamés and Maher Abdul Moaty.

 

She embarked on her artistic creative process under the name "Croíate" (www.croiate.com) and is particularly interested in dance for camera and in the intersection of artistic and social work. Her inclusive dance film 'Fit for a King', produced through Lucoda, was chosen for Film festivals in Brasil and the United States.  She has initiated social projects and participative workshops with the charities Mir wëllen iech ons Heemecht Weisen, Fondation EME, The Red Cross, Sportunity, Trisomie21, Alter&Go, Creamisu and Fit your Mind based in Luxembourg and Belgium. She is also interesed in the outreach of dance to the wider community, and collaborated with Stefano Spinelli (LU) in choreographing the youth dance project Melusina's Moves which was performed in schools in Luxembourg. And in "Les Émergences" program by Trois C-L, with the creation of Inside, the Wolf..., in collaboration with singer Gemma Dunleavy (IRE), and dance artist Daniel Persson (SE). Aifric teaches regularly in public and private dance schools in the Greater Region.
